And to think that it’s all in the Magenta House.

The Magenta House program features a fantastically zainy, Dr. Seuss-esque pop-up structure that teaches anyone everything they need to know about water and power conservation and efficiency.

The pop-up structure pops up and down in a single day on school campuses, retail store parking lots, churchyards and the like, featuring a broad range of water and power educational displays focused on building an energy efficient and water conscious future.

The house was designed by noted theater designer John Bielenberg, father of the John Bielenberg who is Pando’s founding creative director. It became a family project, with Pando Fellow Geneva Bielenberg serving as project manager during design and construction.

The 14’ x 12’ structure was fabricated by the Fab Lab (Fabrication Laboratory) of Pasadena City College. It was then transported to the Pando at Maryknoll campus in Monrovia to be finished out by Geneva, a trained artist, and other members of the Pando team. Educational signage was designed by Michael Braley; educational outreach by designer Aubrey Burgess.
